President Trump recognizes Israel's absolute right to defend itself
Israel's prime minister says his country has begun responding "forcefully" to a rocket attack from the Gaza Strip.
Speaking at the White House, Benjamin Netanyahu said he will "not tolerate" the rocket strike, which struck a home in central Israel early Monday and wounded seven people.
US President Donald Trump called the attack "horrific" adding, "The United States recognizes Israel's absolute right to defend itself." President Trump also announced that he will sign a presidential proclamation recognizing Israel's sovereign right over the Golan Heights.
Netanyahu cut short his scheduled three-day visit, in which he was due to speak at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's policy conference and be hosted at a White House dinner.
