Police seek to seize more than 40 aircraft transporting drugs

Brazil's federal police seek to dismantle an important international drug trafficking air network.

The 'Flak' macro-operation had the participation of more than 400 police officers, and the support of the air force.
Federal Court Number 4 in Palmas issued fifty-four arrest warrants in eight states and included six people in Interpol's search systems.
It also ordered the blockade of 100 corporate and private bank accounts and the seizure of 47 aircraft and 13 farms with more than 10,000 head of cattle.
Authorities estimate that between 2017 and 2018, the criminal organization airlifted more than nine tons of cocaine.

Central America - U.S. talks
Against human trafficking and illegal immigration in the region

The United States, along with El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, signed a plan to combat human trafficking networks.

Washington urged the heads of state to dismantle the organizations that promote the caravans of migrants that are destabilizing the region.
Negotiations will focus on countering organized crime mainly by gangs, increasing border security and creating a transnational information network.
The agreement comes after President Trump declared a state of emergency to help fund the border wall with Mexico, besieged by illegal immigration flows.

At least 100 Cubans on hunger strike to protest against the constitutional referendum

More than a hundred Cuban opponents have gone on hunger strike to protest the constitutional referendum scheduled for February 24 by the regime.

The Patriotic Union of Cuba, an organization that protests against the constituent process that it describes as an electoral farce, denounced the raid and looting of 20 of its headquarters by the authorities.

They also announced that several arrests had occurred even there are disappeared, due to the wave of repression with which the regime seeks to frighten and silence opponents of the referendum.
They denounced that the constitutional reforms proposed by the socialist government of Díaz-Canel would legitimize him to repress and persecute the Cuban people in the name of the law.

Chile expelled 114 immigrants for breaking the law

Chile expelled 114 foreigners for violating the country's laws as part of President Sebastián Piñera's immigration regulation plan.

Chilean Minister Andrés Chadwick announced that 14 Peruvians, 32 Colombians, and 68 Bolivians have been expelled and found guilty of violent crimes, drug trafficking, and illegal residence.
The authorities ordered most foreigners to leave the country by land, while half of Colombians have boarded a military plane bound for Bogotá.

Although the number of immigrants expelled in 2019 for breaking Chile's laws has surpassed 300, it is still far from reaching the more than 2,500 cases recorded in 2018.
