The BL news-Measles outbreak grows in Pacific Northwest
Description
A measles outbreak in the Pacific Northwest has sickened 38 people in Washington and Oregon and 13 more cases are suspected. The outbreak is leading doctors to urge people who have not vaccinated their children to do it right away.
People with young children under the age of one are wondering what to do because the first two shots in the measles series are given after one year of age.
According to the world health organization, Even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available, in 2017, there were 110 000 measles deaths globally, mostly among children under the age of five.
