North Carolina's elections board order new election
North Carolina's elections board on Thursday ordered a new election in the nation's last undecided congressional race after the Republican candidate conceded that his apparent victory was tainted by evidence of ballot-tampering by political operatives working for him.
The State Board of Elections voted 5-0 to order a new election in the 9th Congressional District but didn't immediately schedule it.
The vote came after the Republican candidate surprisingly reversed himself and said in testimony that he believes a new election should happen.
Shortly before the vote, Mark Harris informed the North Carolina elections board he was ending his effort to be the certified winner.
It was on the fourth day of a hearing on whether to certify the results of the November contest.
