The United States has deployed one of its largest aircraft carrier's, the USS Abraham Lincoln, to the Middle East after months of heightened tensions with Iran.

It was sent by President Donald Trump to the North Arabian Sea - where last month, Iran boarded a British ship in retaliation to the UK blockading one of Iran's oil tankers.

The aircraft carriers, arrived in the region in May, earlier than expected, - however, the ship has yet to enter the Strait of Hormuz.
